Chinese Beer Cans

On my last visit to China I noticed that the Beer cans had Poptops very much like what we used to have here twenty years ago.
You would think that they would embrace the same technology that we use. At first I thought that they just are using our old tooling, but that's not it.
I think that these may use less aluminum than the style that we are used to?
Even the Softdrinks had these style pull tabs.
Incidently I was able to buy Coors and Bud in the Supermarket, but most of the restaurants that I went to mostly served tsing tao (ching tao). That's the official beer of China.
