Seattle/Vancouver

Took a trip with my Mom & sisters to Seattle & Vancouver B.C.
What a great three days.
That was my first time in the Space Needle.


They were landing float planes on
Lake Union.
The second thing we did was visit the Locks.
The Round things on the water pipes are big coils. They use them to count tags on the fish that pass into the sound from the hatchery upstream.

We drove up to Vancouver B.C. where there is a lot of construction going on. They are getting ready for the 2010 Winter Olympics.
We took a Ferry over to Victoria.

Butchart gardens was Beautiful.
My sisters had Tea and sandwiches, but I had a Bison burger which wasn't too bad.
The second day we went to Capilano.
That was real cool.

Skylink

The old Airport transportation was called The TrAAin.
It was so bad that it is surprising that airport officials would come up with such a better system.
The Skylink is awesome.
It is totally automated, and as simple as boarding an elevator.
There are trains running in both directions on their own tracks.
I don't know all of the details, but it looks like the Trains are totally symetrical, so tht they can be used on any track.
If I have time I usually try and take a complete circuit.
The train has a great view, and the you can make the entire trip including stops in around 10 minutes.

Shocking news! Trees may not be the answer

I was reading about Albedo in the Global Warming Bible.

The balance between energy absorbed by the earth and energy reflected back into space is fundamental in determining how warm or cool the planet becomes.

It seems that the albedos of forests lie in the range 0.07–0.15, while deserts have an albedo of around 0.3.
Does this mean that Trees actually contribute to Global warming twice as much as dirt?
So how much solar radiation is being absorbed by the Hollywood forest that Al Gore & friends have planted in the past year?
How much would have otherwise been harmlessly reflected back into space by the cold... er I mean Dangerously warming hard ground?

Adventure Thru Inner Space

Before Star Tours there was a Free ride at Disneyland called Adventure Thru Inner Space.
It was a walk thru/ride thru that took you on a voyage as if you were shrinking in size.
It was actually pretty geeky, so it was right up my alley.
At the time most rides at Disneyland required tickets.
This ride sponsored by Monsanto (you know the makers of Agent Orange) was free.

Anyhow I found this very cool comprehensive site that has a ton of information.
I especially liked the overlays of star tours layout with the ATIS Layout.

OK, so my brother in law sold us his washer and dryer for $200.00.
They were in good condition and he was moving.
We had a washer and dryer that was working OK, not great.
I decided to list the old set on Craig's list, and in the Recycler.
I keep getting these Emails from Other countries.
